The 8th graders used the Makerspace, Strawbees, to create a visual representation of the plot of Pandora’s Box. We read the story in class, they partnered up and completed a plot map and then designed and created how they will visually represent it with the Strawbees. Strawbees are straws with different connectors that they use to connect the straws together to build. The only materials students were given were: Strawbees, index cards, single hole punch, markers or pencil colors. They were not allowed to use tape to hold any of their 'straws' together.
They had two requirements:
1) the final product must stand on its own
2) it must represent the plot of Pandora’s Box
Finally, they were given a Partner Evaluation to complete using Google Forms and submitted through their Classroom. Through collaboration with our district librarian, Mrs. Thomas, this activity came to fruition. There was some great work and creative solutions going on during the activity!

The first week of school, students used the iPads to watch a self-paced instructional video using Google Applied Digital Skills on how to make Slides, while simultaneously making an "About Me" Slide. They were doing while learning. Check out the pictures!
