Blakemore Middle School travelled to Farwell, TX yesterday to compete in an all-day UIL academic competition with 6 other schools in our district. The students that chose to do UIL this year were required to come to after-school practices the last 5 weeks, many doing more than one event and having multiple after-school practices. Our students did very well, the best yet in the past 4 years and ended up beating out 2 other schools and narrowly missed coming in 3rd by 10 points. In fact, in EVERY event we competed in except for one, we had at least one student out of the 3 competing place.
Please give a big congratulations and pat-on-the-back for a job well done to the following students, as they gave up personal time to practice in order to compete at a high level:

We had 19 students from Blakemore compete in events. 13 of the 19 students that we took placed and medaled in their events, many in multiple events! That is a great success percentage! Our students worked hard, as well as the teachers who coached the events preparing our students to do as well as they did. A special thanks to those teachers: Cindy Wihebrink, Amie Reid, Sarah James, Anissa Duncan, Ben Dow, Lonnie Dillard and myself, every coach had one or multiple students place in the event(s) they coached! Please congratulate the students and let them see that hard work does pay off!
